Naming Conventions

When you start a new project, the first thing is to set a proper naming convention. Setting up naming conventions will include deciding structured naming formats for Java projects, file names, interfaces, classes, variables, and more. 

Avoid assigning random names that suit the compiler; instead, assign one that meets your expectations. The names must be self-explanatory, meaningful, and more readable so that every single entity involved in the project, from project managers to quality assurance engineers, can understand them easily. 

Image Processing

Sometimes, you need to process images and videos within the Java JVM, which seems quite challenging. You need to deal with huge audio/video libraries, files, and more. The files you upload for visual presentations in Java projects are often rejected due to compatibility issues.

The reason is that when you use double quotes for characters, it will be considered a single string, and you will get the desired output. However, if you use single quotes, then the integer value assigned to the characters will be evaluated.

Memory Leaks 

A memory leak in Java is a situation where the memory unnecessarily maintains unused objects, which degrades system performance. In general, the situation occurs when the Java memory refers to the objects that no longer exist due to a logical error in the code. 

Use Heap Dumps to detect memory leaks in Java applications, as it will give you a detailed synopsis of the number of open object instances and the volume of memory they are consuming. Alternatively, enable Verbose Garbage Collection or use memory profiles to monitor memory usage. 

BigInteger and BigDecimal

BigInteger and BigDecimal are the specific ways to represent numbers. You can use BigDecimal with float values when accuracy is needed. You may also use it while dealing with money-related calculations. 

However, when you need more memory, the BigDecimal algorithm turns a little complicated, which slows down the overall calculations. So, it is recommended to avoid using BigDecimal and BigInteger and only utilize them when no alternative method is available. 

Date & Time

While building forms in Javascreen, it is essential to predefine the date and time format in order to accelerate the autofill process. Providing a predefined format prevents people from the annoyance that occurs when they are trying to enter a date, and the form denies the inappropriate format. 

Using DateFormat Class, you can easily format the date and time with predefined rules. To get the date in DDMMYYYY, you can use three functions such as getDate(), getMonth(), and get FullYear. 

If you want to display the year in two digits, you May use getYear(), instead of getFullYear().
